Many people ask me if they should just throw away their vintage china if it is damaged, as it would no longer have any value. My answer is almost always a resounding no.

Even if a piece is completely broken, the gorgeous fragments can still be used for craft, especially mosaics. A mosaic platter or tabletop looks absolutely stunning with little floral and gilt pieces all mixed together.
With items that are just chipped or cracked, there are many uses for them.

Vintage teapots make stunning planters or herb gardens for the window sill. Masonry bits are available at any hardware store to drill a hole into the base, (with the care of course).

Teacups can be turned into gorgeous pincushions, sewers love them, and they are so easy to make with just a piece of thick foam, folded and tucked into the cup, and covered with a gorgeous complementing print cut to size.
And lovely little creamers make stunning posy vases, or holders for just about anything, pens, toothbrushes, the list is endless.
And of course, a beautiful little herb garden in a stunning vintage pot, or a pin cushion using a lovely teacup, make thoughtful, handmade gifts. Help the kids make one for Nan or Grandma, she will love it. Guaranteed 🙂
