Description
This gorgeous antique comport or cake stand is just superb. It is hand painted with what look be to be Australian style flowers, Pink Heath, Boronia etc, but I cant find any signature. The comport itself has no makers mark, but the registration lozenge shows the date to be the 15th of February, 1870. It is just beautiful with its beaded stem, bright blue bands and gilt trim. It has one flaw in the glaze with a small dull patch and a light stain, however it rings beautifully, has no chips, cracks or crazing, and just shows the lightest marks of use. It is a truly exceptional piece for being almost exactly 155 years of age.
